The Ways to Foster Unity

The Ways to Foster Unity
As we know that sociologist hold different opinions on the definition of racial unity.  Some believe that unity means the unification language, culture and sharing the same values.  But others disagree that racial unity is based on the unification of these factors.   However, in my opinion, I strongly believe that unity in diversity and diversity in conformity work best in a multiracial country like Malaysia.
Unity works best when an individual can abandon his prejudice and practise tolerance, co-operation and understanding to work for the greater goals:  peace, harmony, prosperity, goodwill and well-being of the country.
Being a multi-racial country, Malaysia must take racial unity a must to preserve the integrity of the nation.  Unity is the bedrock where political stability is built upon.  Only with the political stability, we will create an environment conducive to both the local and foreign investments and so set on the gear of economic development.
A united multi-racial society must have the following characteristics.  First, people are able and willing to communicate and co-operate with one another.  Secondly, different opinions and views are respected.  Thirdly, there are no racial prejudice and discrimination.  Fourthly, people share the common ideas and moral values.
Therefore,  unity means co-operation and understanding, so a national language is necessary as it will enable the various races to understand each other better and be in good will.  At the same time, each race must be encouraged and allowed to use and develop their own language as well.  To learn the language of one another helps understand the customs, practices and taboos of other races better.
Moreover, unity also means that people are imbued with these moral values like justice, equality, goodwill, friendship, cop-operation and respect.  The family, school and school education must instil these universal values.
Furthermore,  unity means the laws and policies that are carried out to safeguard the rights and position of people regardless of race, creed and religion.
Thus, I believe the factors I have mentioned above are the best ways to foster unity and co-operations.  What do you think?
